By emphasizing balance, acupuncture and herbal medicine have the power to relieve various female-specific symptoms. Acupuncture therapy usually involves a series of weekly or bi-weekly treatments in an outpatient setting. Each visit includes an exam and an assessment of your current condition, the insertion of needles, and a discussion about self-care tips. An acupuncture visit generally lasts about 30-45 minutes. Natalia specializes in stress reduction, headaches/migraines, women’s issues, infertility, weight loss, allergies, arthritis and smoking cessation. Also, unique to her training, Natalia specializes in Cosmetic Acupuncture which targets wrinkles, sagging skin and promotes facial rejuvenation and radiance. A series of treatments can address: fine lines and wrinkles, droopy eyelids, puffiness, sagging skin, age spots, moisture level and evidence of stress on face. What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture, based upon ancient Chinese medicine, is considered a complementary therapy that promotes holistic health and disease management. It is based upon the concept that a person's life energy, called Qi (pronounced "chee"), is always fluctuating, and that it sometimes depends upon fine-tuning for balance and health. Acupuncturists address Qi imbalances by inserting tiny needles into specific acupuncture points. Before an acupuncturist decides which needles to use and where to insert them--out of 365 different acupuncture points-- a patient's health history, pulse, and examination of the tongue is used to explain the diagnosis and the treatment to the patient. Once the acupuncturist has taken all the necessary steps to diagnose the patient, she will use the needles to stimulate energy flow along the energy channels in the patient's body. She will often also incorporate treatments such as moxibustion, -which uses the burning of herbs at certain needle insertion points; acupressure;, electro-acupuncture, which stimulates insertion points using small electric currents; and cupping methods, which placing cups with vacuum suction over the skin to remove toxins. She may also prescribe herbal treatments for the patient to take home. What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture? Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process. Though Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can sometimes be referred to as an Acupuncture Facelift or Cosmetic Acupuncture, it is more than a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. The Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatment is based on the principles of Oriental Medicine and involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into particular areas of the face, ears, neck, hands, trunk, and legs along channels or meridians of energy called Qi (pronounced chee). Specific points are chosen to manipulate the movement of energy in the body according to the individual's needs. Thousands of years ago the Chinese discovered that many meridians either begin or end on the face while some have internal branches that go to the face. Thus, practitioners of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture know how to specifically effect the face while simultaneously treating the underlying factors that contribute to the aging process. What is Auricular Acupuncture? Auriculotherapy or ear acupuncture, is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem with the entire body represented on the auricle. Ailments of the entire body are assumed to be treatable by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively. Strategic points are used on the ear that can significantly decrease anxiety levels. What is Deep Tissue Massage? Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to become sore or even bruised over the next few days, though there should be no pain to the client during a session if the therapist is doing the work correctly. What is Swedish Massage? Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function and circulation in patients. Both Front and Back Treatments treat a patient’s major complaints. The main difference is that the Back Treatment includes channel body work and/or cupping. |
